Well, here is another late blog posting. School is school. Long, tedious, and highly stressful. I really want to write more often and show off some pictures, but alas I cannot.
My classes are going pretty decently. I really like my military history course. The weeks following up to spring break will lead to a huge crunch of assignments, projects and tests that I once again must handle. I find little things to do to waste my time in order to ward off the insanity and bitterness that creeps up on you during your stay here at the college.
The first amusement I found to quench my procrastination is YouTube. Whoever invented streaming videos was a genius. Hours, upon hours of my free time end up whittling away watching robots fight or cars explode. YouTube also provides me with the many television shows that I miss while I'm out here segregated from society.
The second little thing I found out of utter convenience is Skype. Now Skype is an amazing tool. It's an online phone service that's either free (skype-to-skype) or dirt cheap should you ever want to pay for more of the functions. Talking on a normal telephone overseas brings bad reception, echoing, and a time lag between every sentence. Now I can talk to my sister (who is currently in South Korea) for free over the Internet, and with multiple people. I just had a 4 way conversation with my family. MSN's talking capabilities can't really match (Boy, don't I sound like an infomercial).
The last distraction that I have just currently encountered is Facebook. Some people hate it, some people love it. I don't really have a preference seeing as I just started my account today. It seems rather interesting, but it also seems like it's going to turn into another vortex that inhales all of my precious free hours.
Currently I have to write another essay proposal, complete a calculus assignment, and get ready for the commandant's inspection. I don't know why some people get it in their heads that the only military thing we do here is inspections. That's totally false. We do many other fun (and not so fun) militaristic things, it's just all during the summer or on the weekends. During the academic year it's just easier to not be bothered by anything else.
Well I haven't bought my bike yet. I just toured the bike shops and picked out possible purchases. The next day, the day I was going to buy my bike, it snowed. And snowed. Ever since that day, it has either been snowing or the weather has been unfavorable. I take it as a sign. But then again, maybe I should buy the bike anyways and plow through the snow. I'm open to suggestions. As for the bike I was planning to buy, it was going to be a hybrid-style bike. I don't see the difference in the frames, just the tires. Maybe I should do some more research.
Anyways, I've lost more time then I garnered for. Gotta get back to work.
Cheers,
-Mike U
