Mont St-Grégoire, Québec

It has occured to me that my site did not seem to function due to the fact that I added a mass of pictures to my site. So, for an alternate solution I decided to subscribe to Flickr. I will now only put the vital pictures here on my blog to tell my stories, while keeping the majority of my photos on this online gallery. I also decided to limit the amount of posts shown on the main page to 3. If you would like to see any previous posts, please look under the heading "Previous" or "Archives" on the bottom-right side of this website. Please tell me how you like the idea. Also, try using the Firefox Browser and see if it works better.
I also added a email address to my site that you can contact me with. It is devoted to this blog, and I will treat the messages as such. You can find it if you click on my profile (my picture on the right).

As for my story...
Matt, one of my podmates, was bored one day and said "Why don't we climb that mountain?" So we planned the trip, rented a tent and a lantern, and we set off for the town of Mont St-Grégoire, Québec.
We decided not to walk there and so Chris, another one of my podmates, dropped us off and we set off up the hill. We couldn't really find an entrance so we buskwacked it (meaning we went through pure forest) up the mountain and set up camp. We had no idea if we were on private property or not, so we decided to make our camp in a heavily wooded area. In the process we notice a large bright object in the distance. We scout the area for signs of life, but the latest marks of humanity seem to be a couple of months old. We approached the object and it turned out to be a shiny Mazada Protege. We deducted that it was stolen due to its condition and the surrounding area. We took a picture of the licence plate and we are planning to report it to the police.
After we set up our tent it started to rain. We climbed up the mountain, and after exploring a good deal, went back to the site before darkness fell. By this time we were soaked to the bone. The weather forecast didn't call for this much rain, so we were stuck in our tent for the time being. We unpacked our things and realized we brought way to much food. With the amount of food we brang, we could have easily fed two or three other people. We got bored, played with our cameras, called home, and fell asleep.
The next morning we listened to the varoius sounds of the wild and then got up. Our clothes were soaked, but we didn't care. We've been through worse. After scaring off a squirel that got to our garbage we packed up and set off for the town. After 3km, we met a friendly woman and we all had a great conversation. The best part was that we were talking French for the majority of it. It's nice to see all that work in class pay off. She convinced us not to walk the rest of the 10Km to St-Jean and we called a cab. We headed back to the base and relaxed for the rest of the day.
Even though the trip didn't go as perfectly as we had planned, we enjoyed our stay in the town of Mont St-Grégoire and learned what to and what not to do for our next camping adventure.

Looking for an adventure,

Michael
